My Mother and Sister and I have a lot of things in common but one thing they take the cake on is decorating. All of my mothers houses should have been in a cottage magazine and my sister should really get a spot on Apartment Therapy or some other inspiring blog. They both take risks, make statements and find a place for everything. I'm boring, simple and my places never feel quite like home.

One thing my sister loves to do is thrift. She finds the most amazing things and has great visions for each and every one of her finds. My vintage etsy is inspired by her. I hope you can find something for your own home to bring a touch of the past into your rooms.

I will have my normal signs and jewelry but in celebration of Saint Valentine, I have created many pink and red items for you and yours. (Hey, at least I'm doing a little celebrating) ;)

Busy Season?

I'm not a writer. I was once told, "My beauty is not in my words." Thus, in my busy season as a crafter and artist I fell short on my blogging. I do enjoy blogging, I enjoy sending out bits and pieces of what the world of mimibird has brought into my life, so I'm back. I promise to be consistent and as entertaining as possible. :)

In a period of 65 days I had 12 shows. So needles to say, things got crazy. Then I decided to take over 3 weeks off to spend with my new niece Magnolia. It was more than worth it. She is a delight in every way possible and I wish I were not 850 miles away so I could watch her grow and give her parents a break and a shoulder rub every once in a while.

The sign I made with love for Magnolias Nursery. Made from 100 year old barn wood and hand cut letters wrapped in vintage fabric.

But... Here I am, back to my reality of being a full time student, the owner of a very fun business and many other things that keep me busy, bring me joy and keep me being the strong, creative lady I am.

So welcome back. Thanks for being there.

Its Creepy Animal Day!

When I go thrifting the number one thing that catches my eye are animal figurines. When I find a really special one I can't help but buy it! My friends call them my creepy animals!

There are so many of these wonderful little guys in the world and I want to share my finds with you. Maybe they will brighten your day like they do mine!

East Village Bazaar!

The East Village Bazaar takes place on East 5th Street in Des Moines every Sunday in September and October. There is only ONE show left.... but if youre in the area, I would recommend coming down!

Sunday 1-4pm, we have over 40 vendors, live music, food, drink, people watching and more.

Check us out on October 31st for our last show and look for us next fall!
